Active Release Technique (ART)

Break the adhesion. Restore the movement.

What It Is

How ART Works

Active Release Technique is a hands-on soft tissue system that identifies and treats scar tissue adhesions in muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. When tissue gets overused or injured, it lays down scar tissue. That scar tissue binds structures together that should move independently. The result: restricted motion, reduced strength, and pain that keeps cycling. ART breaks those adhesions with precise, targeted manual pressure combined with specific patient movements.

Who It Is For

Is this right for you?

Athletes, desk workers, and laborers with chronic tightness that stretching cannot fix. Carpal tunnel symptoms. Shoulder impingement. IT band syndrome. Plantar fasciitis. Tennis elbow. Any overuse condition where the tissue feels "stuck" and the problem keeps returning.

What to Expect

Your first session

Dr. Fair will locate the adhesion by feel, then apply directed tension while you move the affected tissue through its full range. The process is direct. Some areas may feel intense during the release, but the relief afterward is significant. Most patients notice improved range of motion immediately.

ART is one part of the system. Not a standalone fix.

Pain is a lagging indicator. Treating symptoms in isolation is why problems keep returning. ART works best as part of a coordinated plan that identifies the driver, corrects the dysfunction, and builds durability so the problem stops cycling.
